I just bought an entry-level 25 key USB MIDI controller for around EUR 130 - Oxygen 8 v2. The logic behind the decision was to put an end to mouse-driven music making experience, which certainly sucks big time. The next thing is that i want to learn playing some music LIVE.
What do I think of it? It's cute, rather small and weights very little. I'm no expert (it's my first buy) but those midi keys seem to be of pretty good quality. I think they'll last 'till I buy some more sophisticated music making gear. A good think about it is that it is very compatible, especially for Ableton LIVE which I use most of the time now.
I do believe that 11 fully assignable MIDI controllers will suffice me enough for a jumpstart. In fact, the smarter i'll get with using it, the more i'll be able to describe it.
I'm in hopes that this investment will help me take my production to the next level. Eventually, if that proves right, I'll be making more upgrades especially to my sound card.
