Chord VST Tonespace or One finger Chord APP

Honestly, Tonespace has been best find in free VSTs department so far. Lots of people making music do not have a clue about the schemes behind chord formulas, chord charts, scales, keys and similar stuff. They do not have to really.

Music, after all, is just a sound which you like or not. So this plugin does exactly that it helps you find your sounds. It spares you from the knowledge of the chord formulas and charts and lets you play the chords with one note (root note).

And if you're seriously studying music then think of it as an educational tool.

How does Chord VST work?

I will use Ableton for reference but as you know these things are pretty standard across all DAWs that support VST.

1. Add your instrument
2. Add Tonespace on a seperate midi track
3. On your instrument track set MIDI FROM to Tonespace Track (input type) and INPUT CHANNEL should be tonespace
4. Set monitoring to IN
5. Compose a midi clip on Tonespace track or simply arm Tonespace track and play your keyboard. That's it.

Result is you play one note (root note) and the whole chord is sent to your instrument (you can see multiple notes playing on your VST instrument panel). Simply to play C chord you just play C and C E G get sent to your instrument. Play around with the settings changing key, scale, and other settings. Search for your sound!

You may wonder what if i don't know how to write chord progression? Again, the mighty internet is here to help. Just use this chord progression generator.

Play only the root notes of chords generated by progression builder. That won't guarantee that you will make hit music any time soon but it's sure to give you a good time. Good luck! OK, did i mention this is freeware? Go get it!
