Making Prodigy's "Voodoo People" in Ableton by Jim Pavloff
The video above breaks down Prodigy's Voodoo People into bits and piece that make up the track. All is done in ableton by manipulating the samples from various sources. It's a way great tut for people who make tracks by resampling others work as well as for people who are working with the synths and midi parts. And above all, it's always interesting to have a look under the hood of this world famous track!

kevkondro dream to live

Today I bring up a new track. It's a one shot from the yesterday's jam session;) As the title suggests the track turns out to be dreamy and melancholic. Give it a listen. This time it is made entirely in reason 4.

How to Randomize Notes in Reason

I've just composed this bass heavy track using only randomized patterns in reason. That I did with the help of matrix sequencer. This is how i did it.
Create a matrix sequencer linked to your synth move the mouse over the step window right click and choose randomize pattern. Keep randomizing until you like the groove and save it. That's it.
I really like the outcome of the groove as it is probably unlike anything you have heard before. You can keep the same pattern on multiple synths (bass, lead). If you feel you need to intervene and edit the pattern just do it manually, either by copying the pattern to the main sequencer or editing right on the matrix.
If you wan to develop your composition further on or to add more interest. Copy Pattern 1 to Pattern 2 and try the Alter function. It keeps the same notes but changes them around a bit. Or you can try a completely new randomization until you can hear that Pattern 1 and Pattern 2 are Ok to follow one another.
Enclosed below you will find the mp3 of this randomized track along with the reasons file if you should decide to elaborate on it. Have fun! It's really inspiring stuff. Love reason for that.

Free album by Module Patter Dot Net

Module's free live album open source remix project PATTERNDOTLIFE is available here. I just downloaded it and I am liking what i hear. Good electro stuff. I think, we're similar music wise, in how we do perform music: Ableton at the core, live midi clip launch, leads played live on the keyboards. Of course, i use reason rewired to ableton, too.
Module (Live) Night-Riding - Ableton Liveset
Yet another ableton live session. Besides the korgs, at the core of what Module does on stage is ableton live. Just like me, he uses a midi controller keys to trigger off midi clips. He explains that in the second video.

Behringer BCR2000 - new gear in my arsenal
Brought it home today and already tested on the take2 for the baltai track. This beauty BCR2000 will give me additional strength to power up my tracks with more of a human touch.
See specs here
Unfortunately, Maudio's oxygen v2 knobs had worn off way too quick but i still use it to launch midi clips in Ableton, and to control transport. Now I'm performing on BCR2000, Oxygen v2, and Keystation all in one session.
kevkondro baltai - take2

Another night another take gets done. For worse or for better but this is how it goes. Here we have take 2...
kevkondro baltai - take1

This time around i am doing a track on the ancient ethnic group "Baltai" who lived in the Baltic sea region long time ago. My girlfriend is doing a project on this topic for the Uni right now, she said she might use the track for the project. So, here we have take 1.
